etrain Stock Exchange

Etrain puts out a Top 50 List each week on his blog as a fun way to honor some of the season's best performers thus far, combining times from different courses into a completely subjective system. The list will be updating on a weekly basis and runners will jump all across the rankings. Think you can predict which runners will rise up? Which sleepers will emerge?

Well then the etrain Stock Exchange is for you!

Here's how this works, take a look at the Top 50 list. Each runner has a "monetary" (we only use imaginary money here) value as follows,

Not Ranked- $1
50th- $5
49th- $10
48th- $15
...
1st- $250

Say I see someone in the 48 spot that I think is underrated. If I pay $15 dollars, I get one "share" of that runner's stock. If the next week, the runner does well and moves up to 40th, that stock is now worth $55 dollars. I can then either sell the stock back and profit $40 or I can hold onto it if I believe the stock will continue to go up (but if the runner goes down the next week, so does the value of your stock and your profit if you choose to sell). Keep in mind, you can buy as many "shares" as you like in each runner and multiple buyers can each own shares of the same runner.

There will be a final rankings after the state championship at which time all stock will be cashed in at final market value. Whoever has made the most money off their investments will win!

So if you want to play along, comment below with your purchases and a code name so we know who you are. You can make purchases or sales any time you like prior to the state championship meet!

    3. I think this math may be slightly off, but double check me. remember since 50th is worth 5, the formula would be (51-x)*5 so desko was worth (51-30)*5 = 105, milligan 170, etc

  6. Why are my shares of Feffer valued at 0? He is now on the list. He should be $80 a share or $400 in my case.
