At the top, the arrival of Dalton Hengst will obviously complicate exactly what the plan is for Shanahan, but at the end of the day it doesn't mean much. These teams will all enter if they have the time, even if it is with a "B" squad. Shanahan's deep enough to have a pretty competitive "B" squad anyway.
But let's not focus on BS. There will be enough of that in the months to come. Instead, let's focus on the fact that the 4x8 qualifying picture is pretty unimpressive right now. We are getting closer to something impressive (we've got 11 teams under 8:20 now), but we've still got a cut off near 8:26 which I can't imagine is going to be even close to holding up.
The field is up to 18 this year it appears so that should make for a bit of a slower qualifying time, but history says the cut off is closer to 8:15 or so. My guess is that LaSalle will crush a fast time in the coming weeks. At Ocean Breeze, we saw they are deep enough to hit a qualifying time even without Addison. I also think Twin Valley could be a factor sooner rather than later.
Did not at all see an 8:09 coming from DT West. That was a heck of a performance. They are currently the last team into the fast heat in this event.
